Fringe image by the water droplet in spray
The defocusing spray photograph was taken with frequency-doubled Nd:YAG pulsed laser. The snapshot shows the many circular intense part that corresponds to a water droplet.
Interferometric Laser Imaging technique
ILIDS - ‰摜@ : ‰摜@iInterferometric laser imaging technique for droplet sizing.) The laser technique is applied to the analysis of small sphere in fluid such as spray, dispersed droplet and micro-bubbles in liquid. The technique observes the interference between reflective and refractive rays scattered by a sphere. Defocusing (out of focus) imaging system is one of the significant aspect.
(Optical) Fringe Compression : The parallel interferometric fringes within the circular particle images were enlarged due to the defocusing imaging system. The effects cause the overlapping of neighboring images and disturb the automated recognition and identification by the image processing software. ?
The sophisticated image squeezing technique was introduced at 2000(Measurement Science and Technology, Institute of Physics).
